Probably most all of you have already heard about the horrible accident in Kentucky a little over a month ago. In case you didn't, there are some articles here, and here. Leroy Kauffman talks about the surviving boys here.
Here are some pictures taken at John & Sadie's house, we know several of the people on here, including David's Uncle Ike!
The funeral was enormous, I've heard reports of 2,500-3,000. We never really even had a chance to see the family, the logistics of getting that many people through the lines just didn't allow for visiting time. But we're glad we could be there.
David's family lived in the same community as the Esh's when they were growing up, their children and he and his siblings were all good friends. They went to school together, and did a lot together. I've heard many tales involving the Esh's!! I wasn't very well aquainted with the ones involved in the accident, but I do know several of the other children.
Something like this makes you really stop and think. I always come back to the verse, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Listening to the Esh's recorded singing of "Home" puts me in tears! I'm longing to go!
One thing that I did find heart wrenching was this;
Joel had given Rachel these roses after they got engaged, and they had them on display at the funeral, still fresh . . .
The enormity of it all was impossible to wrap your mind around. Eight hearses. Borrowed from surrounding counties, because no one funeral home has that many.
And yet, we can be sure that this is all a part of God's plan. Somehow, this is all a part of His glorious tapestry. We live for God, we will die for God, may His name be praised!
