And does it ever show all day on Sunday! I'll spare you all the details and just say that oftentimes, what is supposed to be a day of rest is usually pretty hectic around our house!
I'm tired of it! So I sat down and made a list of things to be done before I wake up Sunday morning.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Saturday’s Plan for Peace on Sunday
Prepare the home ~
Home Blessing
Pick up and put away toys, books, etc.
Dust
Vacuum
Take out trash
Swish & Swipe bathrooms
Prepare the meals ~
Think about breakfast. Just cereal or some quick muffins? Prep the coffee pot.
Plan a simple, nourishing dinner. Something that can be ‘table-ready’ or only needs a few finishing touches after church.
Main dish (in the crock pot?)
Vegetable or Salad
Dessert
Think about supper, are there leftovers to warm up or sandwich makings?
Prepare the clothes ~
Lay out everyone’s Sunday clothes.
Check! Are there
Buttons missing?
Dirty shoes?
Wrinkled shirts or dresses?
Put these next to the door so they don’t get forgotten on the way out!
Bibles, diaper bag, back pack, offering check.
Prepare the body ~
Bath time! Make sure everyone gets scrubbed from their hair to their toes!
Prepare the soul ~
Wind things down for a less than hectic evening. Try to have the bulk of the days work done before supper. Allow time for a relaxed bath/shower, time to study Sunday School Lessons, family play time and a chance to go to bed at a decent hour.
Preparation day is an important day in my home!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know better than to make any fair promises of always doing everything on this list! Or even half of them! :) However, getting this on paper will give me something to look at when I know I should be busy but just can't think of what's most important. Or when I'm trying to convince myself that I do have time for ______ when I should be working.
It won't take me all day to do this, but I need to DO it if it's going to be done. That's obvious, I know, but sometimes I need to be reminded of the obvious!
So, I'm off to print this and put it in my Control Journal.
And I'm looking forward to next Sunday!
