Memories from Getting Ready for Our Wedding

With our anniversary right around the corner, I've been doing a bit of reminiscing and looking at old pictures. Getting ready for a wedding and a new life is no small job! Here are a few choice pictures from that very busy summer! Here's Mom busy painting in our 'new' house. My loyal friend, Doreen, I'll never forget the day we were painting together and managed to get 'drunk' on the fumes from the oil-based paint. We were doubled over laughing, and we didn't even know what was funny. David and Dan came to work on the porch, but after watching us for a few minutes decided to first go and get the HUGE fan from Jamco, and set it up to ventilate the house. After that, nothing was quite so funny . . . but we did get the painting finished. Here they're pouring concrete for our garage.
A workday for the men, framing up our garage.
It takes a LOT of food to feed 300+ people! Fran Johnson and Mary Miller. Fran not only grew my wedding flowers, she also helped arrange them, and refused to take one cent for any of it!Things were starting to seem more real at this point! Doreen is ironing my Romanian lace tablecloth, which later turned into my livingroom curtains!
This isn't a typical guy job, but somebody with long arms was needed!

I knew that nobody else would be able to tie the bows right, so I just did them myself!
Our Moms, this was their first opportunity to meet each other. There was plenty of work to visit over, and they did plenty of both in those last couple of days before the big day.

This picture makes me laugh! For those of you who don't know them, these are all my co-workers from when I lived in Romania. The two on the right got married one day before our first anniversary, but Jan didn't find out until the day after our wedding that Dan had any such ideas in his head, so here in this picture she is completely innocent and clueless. :)
